5 easy to use, golden tips for cleaning your joyce chen bamboo steamer.. THE RIGHT WAY!
As we all know, bamboo steamers are built to sit over a pot of boiling water for steaming food.
Bamboo steamers are some of the most productive/efficient cooking products i can think of for the simple fact it..
* Provides us with multi level cooking (which saves me time) and..
* Also doubles as a serving tray for your food which erases the need for extra dishes.. (extra dishes = extra work and im not with that one bit lol).
Your joyce chen steamer will last many years, if you know how to clean it properly.
Since you and me are friends, i might as well give you my golden tips i use when cleaning my bamboo steamer, no need to thank me.. that's what friends are for right?
1. Try rinsing your steamer with hot water if there is no food sticking to the bottom and inside walls of your bamboo steamer basket. No need for soap in this situation.
2. Now if there is food stuck to the bottom and inside walls of your joyce chen steamer, use a tiny amount of MILD dish detergent.
Also use a soft cloth and clean your steamer by hand. Avoid completely dipping your steamer inside your dish water.
3. After you have removed the food, its time to rinse your steamer completely in hot water.
What i have learned is that using to much soap will give your future meals a soapy taste so PLEASE only use a tiny amount (just a drip) of soap only while trying to remove stuck on food.
4. After your bamboo steamer basket is clean, use a soft cloth to soak up the extra water.
5. Most times i just allow my steamer to sit out on my counter top, out of the sun light to air dry for a whole day before i place it in my cabinet.
I know, i know. It may seem like alot of work.
But when its all said and done, if you want your joyce chen bamboo steamer to last and provide you with years of..
* Healthy..
* Delicious..
* Gorgeous meals..
Your gonna have to follow some guide lines.
I really hope i have been of help to you my friend. Enjoy and have a wonderful day.
Oh and by the way, if you dont own a bamboo steam.. you might as well buy a joyce chen steamer now.

4 simple, yet effective tips for using your Joyce Chen bamboo steamer.

You know usually im very skeptical about products im testing before hand because i have come across some real b.s. in my time doing reviews. With that being said lets get this ball rolling. Lets talk steamer sets..
As im sure you already know, the chinese steamer has been in use for centuries in beautiful Asia for perfectly steaming food.
Over the course of many years, this ancient cooking gem has become an important tool for cooking in good old America.
The Joyce Chen steamer has tons of different uses besides basic cooking. Did you know that Joyce Chen makes the best bamboo steamer?
You know what? since i like you so much, lets talk about the uses and care instructions for your steamer which will help you use your bamboo steamer to its fullest!
1. Ok.. so how do i use a bamboo steamer basket for cooking?-
Great question. Your bamboo steamer has multiple layer containers which allows us to cook different foods, separately all at once, how cool is that?
Each layer is built with an open weave bamboo bottom which allows hot steam to pass through for cooking purposes.
FYI: Your steamer must be placed over a pot a boiling hot water.
Please make sure your steamer fits deep enough inside your pot for safety (i had to learn the hard way lol).
2. Ok ok, so how do i place food inside the steamer?-
Well, you can lay your food directly inside your bamboo steamer, but this just makes for a hard clean up.
But dont get me wrong, there are materials you are able to use to line your steamer.
Examples are:
* Parchment paper (my favorite). Just cut the paper in a circle (doesn't have to be perfect) and lay it across your steamer.
* Banana Leaves. Did you know that fresh banana leaves are the perfect liner for your bamboo steamer basket?
The banana leaves also spreads wonder flavors through out your food, so try it.
* Lettuce leaves.
3. So what about the steaming?-
What i like to do is place 2-3 inches of water in my pot and allow it to boil.
Next i place the steamer layers on top of the pot of boiling water. Next i place foods inside the steamer and cover with the bamboo lid and steam until my food is finished.
Do you know where to buy bamboo steamer? RIGHT HERE FROM MY BLOG LOL! Back to our conversation..
This may sound like common sense, but please carefully remove the steamer to avoid serious burns.
I have found its best to use bamboo tongs to remove your foods from your steamer for safety purposes.
PLEASE, dont allow your boiling pot of water to dry out.
A great tip is to place any coin inside your pot of boiling water. If you dont hear your coin, guess what.. your out of water buddy.
4. So how do i take care of my steamer?-
Once your done cooking, wash your steam trays with soapy, warm water. Please dont allow your steamer to soak in water.
Do not use a metal scrubber for cleaning, try using a nylon scrubber to remove stuck food.
Keep in mind your steamer IS NOT DISH WASHER SAFE!
Once your done washing your steamer, allow it time to air dry because humid climates (such as the climates here in FL where im located) may force your steamer to mold.
Other than that, your all set. You wanna buy a bamboo steamer as much as i do.
Enjoy and have a wonder day my friend.
